GUNTERVILLE JULY 2008 CHRIS JACKSON

Capt. Chris Jackson Subject: Guntersville, Alabama Submitted by FINS -N- GRINS FRESHWATER ADVENTURES
Date Fished: 7/25/2008
Water Temperature: 89
Water Clarity: 4 feet or greater

The last few trips have been great for us this week. On Wed got to fish with a teacher from South Alabama, her students got her a trip for Christmas. Turns out she and Beth knew each other from some workshops so Beth got to tag along as well. After working on her baitcaster skills she never looked back. She "wacked em'" on topwater most of the trip. With the overcast sky she worked the Dagored and SK Grande' most of the trip. We only had one set of schoolers come up but the big fish desided to eat and that was what we wanted anyway. Numbers and size were solid. She did get to toss the Muscle 10 some boating a couple of other fish. Fish seemed to be in the 6-10 foot range most of the trip. I had a halfday on the lower end Wed afternoon that was a little slower but size was there for sure. My client wanted to learn the deeper bite so we stayed in areas deeper than 20 feet the whole trip. He worked the Omega 1oz jig and a new bait from Lake Fork(not sure what they are going to call it yet, but it will be out in about a month).

On Thursday had a halfday out fishing one section of the lake the client wanted to learn more about. We had both size and numbers on topwater but the bigger fish came on the Jackall Bowstick and Mikey Sr.. We then moved to a dock pattern working on his dock fishing. We used Omega jigs in 3/8 and Jackall Cover Craws. The bite was slower and those baits produced the better fish but the great numbers came from the Wacky Jig head and Flack SHake worm. Letting the bait fall right on top of the post seemed to be the best bite for him.

I still have some open dates in Aug and a couple of days in Sept.. The fish have hit the summer pattern and seem to be getting more stable by the day. I still cant wait until the snap, crackel, pop of the rat bite. Its coming fast. Rodney and I are at it in the morning working on some new baits and I think I am making a trip to other waters for my birthday the rest of the weekend. Hope everyone has a great week and see you on the water.

God Bless
