LAKE LANIER IS DOWN 15.2 FEET, AND LAKE IS STAINED AND THE CREEKS AND THE RIVERS ARE STAINED & 82 DEGREES.
SPECIAL NOTICE: BE VERY CAREFUL RUNNING LAKE LANIER AS WATER LEVELS FALL. THERE ARE MANY AREAS THAT HAVE TREE TRUNKS, STUMPS AND ROCKS JUST BELOW THE WATER LEVEL.
Black bass fishing is fair and the fish are relating to any docks close to the main rivers bends. Bends at the mouth of Lathem Creek are typical summer locations. Look for these fish on any flat just inside the up lake creeks. Work docks and points and stay up lake away from the clear lower lake waters. Up lake in the middle of the creeks bass are feeding on shad and small bream. Small High Rollers in bone and smaller top water lures in shad and blue combinations as well and white Zoom Flukes on light line has been fair. Try the Super Fluke Jr. on a small hook with no weight or on a Fish Head spin and skip any dock up lake. The river bass are biting green crawfish Stanley jigs with a #11 Uncle Josh dark trailers. The Zoom u tail worms in gourd green and natural blue colors on a Texas rig is excellent. A 3/8 ounce spinner bait will work and use the willow leaf blades in gold and a small silver Colorado with white and chartreuse skirts. Add some Jack’s Juice crawfish scent on the lures for added attraction and make several casts to the same locations. The best crank bait will be the Bomber Model 7A in baby bass or baby striper.
Spotted bass fishing is fair. The largest numbers of fish are concentrated around brush and on humps at 20 to 27 feet of water. Start out with the Chug Bug each day and if the fish are hesitant to take this bait, go to the fluke. The river bass are biting green crawfish Enticer jigs with a #11 Uncle Josh dark trailers. A few fish are suspended on or near the top of the brush and will chase down a Super Fluke Jr or a Pop N Splash top water bait in shad. A Texas rigged green finesse worm is fair but will not take near as many big fish. Spend some time on the river from the mouth of Limestone Creek up to the and past the rowing area. The current is cooler on the river and the bass tend to hang right on the outside bends waiting for the food to come by. Bright Bandit 200 bright crank baits work well and use 10 pound test to get the baits a little deeper The Zoom u tail worms in gourd green and natural blue colors on a Texas rig is fair. Beat the heat and fish finesse worms on a very light Texas rig at night on marina docks and point.

Striper fishing is great and that says it all. Fishing from mid creek out to the mouths of the creeks has been the key to success for me. We have found large schools of fish which for the most part are ready to bite, or at least can be teased into feeding. We have seen a lot of schools numbering in the 100's. Sometimes these fish are reluctant to bite at first. As soon as you hook up your first fish, before taking him up, work the other lines by power reeling. Or try casting a bucktail jog tipped with a fresh blue back herring cast into the school. Do everything you can to keep the fish hooked up. This should create a feeding frenzy of stripers. Down lines with a 2 ounce weight and a 6 to 8 foot fluorocarbon leader should be used with #6 or #4 hooks as the bait remains on the small side. Don’t fish until you see the fish on the Lowrance INDEX: |
