An 8-1/2 foot alligator that had become a favorite with Gulf State Park visitors has been relocated. The gator had become overly friendly with humans after being fed by park visitors, park officials said.
There had been no incidents, but the gator’s relocation was necessary for the safety of park visitors, officials said.
The gator was snared and its mouth taped shut before being placed in a pickup truck for a ride to its new home elsewhere in the park.
Gulf State Park officials relocate two or three gators annually, they said.
